Jonathan,

Thank you so much for your help with this. Getting those silly little animations to work turned into a personal quest for me! I am happy to say that as of 4:52 pm on 1/23/11, I got my custom boot animation to work! What it seems to be is the Windows Compression (ZIP) tool doesn’t play nice with Android.

One of the items mentioned in the page you recommended in this thread to me (http://www.dkszone.net/how-to-create-custom-boot-animation-for) linked me to a utility called 7zip, which when I confirmed through an alternate search to http://android.modaco.com/content-page/310040/android-modaco-custom-boot-animation/page/40/, a guy named StevOS was talking about a similar frustration. Also I found http://www.droidforums.net/forum/droid-hacks/81766-custom-boot-logos-who-wants-one-78.html discussion about 7zip and others.

7zip can be downloaded here: http://download.cnet.com/7-Zip/3000-2250_4-10045185.html

So I downloaded 7zip and compressed again (this time with just a single frame to save some time), and it worked!! Then I went back to add the other frames, pushed it up to the Droid, and all is well. Awesomeness.

Oh just as a side note, I also noticed that the PNG files should be set to either 8 or 24 bit depth. I tried 32, didn’t seem to work, but I was admittedly being lazy and didn’t want to test out 32 and the zip again. I’ll try that out when I get a little more silly with the animations.

Again, thanks and I’ll keep checking out your forum and advice.
